The world is best viewed through the ears of a horse

I am a keen horse rider – The Worlds Happiest Hacker or Trail rider depending on your terminology. I currently own and ride my own horse, an American Quarter Horse called Storm and have borrowed loaned many horses over the years.

Katie

Katie was a 16.1hh Thoroughbred. She’s 29 years old and a retired racehorse. Very retired but when racing (point to point) she did win several races. Now we go out of hacks and she’s still up for some trotting and the occasional canter.

(A little update – Katie made it to 30 then wasn’t in good condition as the winter of 2019 progressed so we said goodbye to her in February 2020)

Rocky

Rocky is a bit of a rascal. A bit of a project. He’s a Halflinger / Welsh hill pony cross, about 14.2hh and 12 years old. I don’t know much of his history but he can be a bit of a handful at times.

Angus

Angus is a 23 year old traditional Irish cob. About 14hh. He can be a bit cheeky at times, but is a big old softie, really. He has a very short trot and a comfortable canter. Always muddy – the down-side of a horse with white patches!

Tucker

Tucker is a 17 year old American Quarter horse. He had full western tack and training. I rode him a few times for a friend who has now (sadly) sold him on.
